Whew! What a crazy summer! We sold our home and bought another - four days before a wildfire started 7 km from the new house! We were fortunate because our new home was saved. The fire was stopped about one block away! Sadly, not everyone was as lucky. It is heartbreaking to see the burned homes and businesses. In addition, the bears, moose, deer and other wildlife populations are struggling. It lifts my heart to see greenery pushing its way through the ash as the earth begins its slow recovery.
We still had to move out of our original home in Terrace, so we packed everything up and took our 5th wheel camper to a beautiful campground/Resort - Fawn Lake Resort. We stayed there for the month of August because we couldn't take possession of our new home until September 1st. The Resort was AMAZING. If you are ever looking for a beautiful wilderness campground, check them out. They have gorgeous cabins available. The couple who own the resort, Irene and Ralph, are hard-working and truly good, down-to-earth folks.
My hubby had a heart attack two nights before we were scheduled to move into our new home. It was a terrifying time, but the local emergency responders got to us quickly and he received top notch medical care. As I was greeting the movers at our new home, my hubby was undergoing surgery. Angioplasty and two stents later, he was on the mend. He came home the next day.
Two of our children drove up to help us get settled and help me keep their Dad and my best friend from doing too much! I don't know which was more difficult!
I am finally set up enough to start doing artsy fartsy stuff again in our retirement home on the lake! I'm feeling pretty darned grateful for this life.
